SKYDÔME, THE 2012 THERMAL REGULATION (RT 2012) and environmental regulation 2020 (re 2020)

Human well-being and respect for the environment are among SKYDÔME's top priorities, and we are committed to implementing solutions that are both efficient and sustainable. A responsible, forward-looking approach, with a clear objective: to effectively meet all technical and environmental requirements, such as the 2012 Thermal Regulations (RT2012) and the 2020 Environmental Regulations (RE2020).

GRENELLE OF ENVIRONMENT AND 2012 THERMAL REGULATIONS (RT 2012)

Grenelle de l'environnement

The Reglementation Thermique 2012 (RT 2012), following on from the RT 2005, places energy management at the heart of environmental concerns, with the Grenelle de l'Environnement's goal of reducing energy consumption in buildings and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by a factor of 4 by 2050.

The RT 2012 principle

RT 2012 relies on improved building design to halve overall energy consumption and heating requirements. More specifically, the aim is to reduce the average primary energy consumption of new buildings from 150kWhep/m²/year to 50 kWhep/m²/year. The aim is to make buildings energy self-sufficient (positive energy) by 2020, or even to produce more energy than they consume.

RT 2012 requirements

These new thermal regulations, which came into force on July 1, 2011 for commercial and public buildings (January 1, 2013 for residential), are intended to be simpler and easier to understand than their predecessors. Unlike the RT 2005, it no longer imposes specific technical rules, but is based on performance requirements, giving building owners greater freedom in the energy design of their buildings. These performance requirements include :

  • Minimum building energy efficiency.
  • Maximum building energy consumption.
  • Summer comfort in non-air-conditioned buildings.

THE NEW SKYDOME SKYLIGHT RANGE

SKYDÔME follows in the footsteps of the Grenelle de l'Environnement in its quest for healthier, more sustainable construction, with new technical solutions for use in your low-energy buildings: our Thermik' range, the new skylight range with excellent airtightness and improved thermal insulation.

PARIS AGREEMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION 2020 (Re 2020).

Accords de Paris

The Thermal Regulations 2020 (RT 2020), to meet the expectations of the Paris Agreements, is to enable occupants to live and work in a place adapted to future climatic conditions, while pursuing the objective of summer comfort. Buildings will have to be more resistant to heatwaves, which will become more frequent and intense because of climate change.

The RE 2020 principle

The Environmental Regulations (RE2020) are gradually replacing RT2012. It applies to new buildings, for collective and individual housing, offices, primary and secondary education buildings and other types to follow.

3 major thrusts for RE2020 :

  • Construction methods with low greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Consume less energy, and decarbonized energy at that;
  • Guarantee a certain level of coolness even in the hottest weather.

DEDICATED SKYDÔME SKYLIGHT RANGES: ORIGIN', THERMIK' AND RPT

*SKYDÔME RPT range: coming soon

SKYDÔME follows in the footsteps of the Grenelle de l'Environnement and the Paris Agreements in its quest for healthier, more sustainable construction, with new technical solutions for use in your low-energy buildings: the THERMIK' and RPT ranges of skylights with excellent airtightness and improved thermal insulation.

SKYDÔME, through the products it designs or through the GROUP's products, offers a range of solutions such as roof-mounted brise soleil infills, which comply perfectly with the French Thermal Regulations.

1)   THERMIK' RANGE for exceptional insulation and improved airtightness!

The skylights in the THERMIK' SKYDÔME range are specially designed to meet the requirements of current thermal regulations.

Thermik

Significant reduction in building energy consumption: maximum comfort in summer and winter.

The skylights in the THERMIK' range are made from higher-performance materials. In particular, they can be enriched with a specific aerogel - Lumira™ aerogel, the best translucent insulator on the market.

2)   RPT RANGE: to go even further!

* SKYDÔME RPT range: coming soon

True symbols of SKYDÔME's expertise, the RPT (thermal break) range will incorporate thermal break upstands, thermal break frames and sashes, and a glass infill for thermal break insulation.
